The Physics of the Problem

Cameras detect light. In fog, rain, and snow, optical systems lose resolution rapidly. Lane markings painted on roads wash out, fade, and disappear entirely under snow. No camera-based system can reliably detect a lane that isn’t visually present.

Radar Solves the Physics

Radar penetrates fog, rain, and snow. Our trihedral corner cube reflectors are passive, maintenance-free infrastructure devices that return radar signals with exceptional precision regardless of weather or lighting. They don’t require painting, they don’t fade, and they are not affected by shadows or glare.

Infrastructure-Level Reliability

The key insight is that reliable autonomous highway operation requires infrastructure-level guidance — not vehicle-level perception. When the highway itself provides precise, all-weather lane markers, every equipped vehicle benefits regardless of its onboard sensor sophistication.
